Come and meet Dave on a Thursday or Friday. Our master butcher has 50 years of experience and is happy to discuss with you the best cuts and preparations for your meat. Ask to speak with Dave or watch this web site for tips.

Looking for ideas for that Valentine's Day meal? Try the new Guard of Honour or rack of muntjac venison.

    • New speciality lamb: The Guard of Honour @ £12.50 per kilo.
The two best ends of lamb that are chined, the rib bones bared and they are leant against one another with the rib bones interlocking and the void between them filled with an apple, onion and breadcrumb stuffing, ready to be roasted.
    • Rack of muntjac venison. £28 per kilo; typically between £6 and £10 for two people.Season with salt and pepper and sear in a pan for 2 minutes a side before placing in a hot oven for 6 to 8 minutes. I like to use a mixture of olive oil and unsalted butter with fresh thyme and finely garlic chopped. Serve with kale or purple sprouting broccoli and a mash of seasonal root vegetables.

dave's tip for roast shoulder of lamb:

Ask your butcher to prepare the shoulder so that once cooked the shoulder blade can be easily twisted and removed prior to carving. Cook by your favourite method or try pot roasting in a caserole, lid-on after seasoning with salt and pepper and a good spoonful of mint sauce.

  • regular tasting days

We like our customers to meet the people who supply their food. This is easy when your eggs, butter and beef comes from Stuston Farm. We are proud to be supplied by many fine local producers, of chutneys, beers, ciders, bread and apples to name but a few.

Each month we hold a tasting day to allow you to do just that. Find out from them how they like to use their products and pick up a little inspiration for your own kitchen.

We are passionate about supporting local businesses and use these suppliers: -

    • Harvest Kitchen for pates and hams
    • Casa Castellon relishes and chutneys
    • Calvors lager
    • Aspall's cider
    • Belgar's wines
